Maldives – Travel Diary

I am back. Back from Maldives aka. paradise on earth and the most amazing place I’ ve ever visited.

When my friend ask me if I would like to travel with her to Maldives I didn’t have to think about it and said yes, definitely. So I packed my bags and went right after my night shift to the airport and hopped onto the plane. After a 4 hours flight I arrived in Male, the capital of Maldives.
Since my arrival I was in love with this place! Everybody is friendly and happy and is transfers this feeling immediately to you since you are there.

The person who picked me up at the airport was lovely. He was smiling and took me to the boot which brought me to the island where the Anantara Resort was located. A beautiful place in the middle of the ocean.
After a 35 minutes boat drive the Anantara staff welcomed us with warm words and traditional Maldivian live music. As soon I stepped into the white sand I felt that I was on holiday and my body calmed down.

I checked-in an drove with the caddy to our water villa where my friend was already waiting for me.
I have never stayed at such an exclusive and wonderful place. It had a direct access to the sea and made ist more than easy for us to hop directly into the ocean for a little snorkeling tour.

It had a giant terrace and windows everywhere, so you had a stunning view on the ocean wherever you are.

On the next day we went ot see the Mantaray. We went with a boat and 2 other tourists from Indonesia and tried to find the Mantaray. Unfortunately we only saw one and a little far away but still it was a great tour on the boat and we had an amazing, sunny time and morning. After this we went back to the breakfast and enjoyed the great selection of food and beverages they offered.

After the breakfast it was a little rainy and cloudy so we went back to our room and relaxed on the bed while watching the ocean and listened to the waves. At around 6 PM we went to see the spa. We enjoyed a lovely Balinese Massage and calmed completely down for 2 hours. Additionally to this massage we also tried other treatments like a facial, herbal bath and Thai massage. All of these where perfectly amazing. Additionally to the treatments you can also visit the spa to relax in the Jacuzzi or use the other facilities such as Sauna or Steam room and enjoy the stunning sea view free of charge.

As the weather wasn’t that perfect we spent quiet a lot of time in the spa or went snorkeling in the sea. My friend and me used every rain and storm free minute to explore the Island with its beautiful nature and landscape.
Additionally to the sea and the small pools at the villa you can also use the infinity pool, which is located directly next to the sea and beach restaurant. At this place you can get great seafood and other nice dishes and drinks. We tried the pizza “gamberetti” and their traditional Maldivian fish dish as such as an virgin colada. In general all restaurants at the resort are super yummy. The staff is friendly and the meals are lovely. Especially the Thai restaurant massively impressed myself after I tried their Pad Thai and the Lobster. This was heaven on earth or heaven on my tongue. Whatever! it was freaking amazing!

So however you plan a family holiday, wanna travel with your friends or the love of your life, this place is highly recommend by me. It’s not cheap but it is totally worth it and I will definitely come back there together with Tim.

  1. Wunderschöne Bilder – laden gerade dazu sein selbst in den Flieger zu steigen, wenn die Reise nicht zu weit wäre. Steht aber definitiv noch ganz oben auf meiner Liste. Viele Grüße Annalena
